The American TaeKwon-Do Academy is a non contact teaching academy headed by 9th Degree Black Belt Grand Master Joseph Auman. With emphasis on perfecting techniques in a safe non-contact environment. ATA Martial Arts Academy focus on individual growth through martial arts. ATA practices thoughtful and reflexive TaeKwon-Do to promote physical well-being.

Based in Bay City, Michigan with many satellite classes throughout the state the ATA currently boasts a 34 year history of excellence in martial arts and over 5,100 members. The ATA is a teaching academy that teaches at the students level and allows for any timeline beginner students may require.

A TEACHING ACADEMY...

We have an Active Teaching Faculty of 1-Grand Master Instructor; 1-Master Instructor; 5-Chief Instructors; 15-Full Instructors;  8-Assistant Instructors, 13 -Intern and Apprentice Instructors, and 2-Youth Leaders.

     ATA teachers are CPR certified and require: 1) Taekwon-do/martial art knowledge and experience to their rank; 2) Skilled abilities for sharing that information with students, and 3) A desire to teach.

     The Academy begins with an apprenticeship. 6 months to a year under the helpful eyes of an assistant instructor or instructor and they can be promoted to interns. Interns learn and expand their TKD knowledge for 1 to 2 additional years and move up to assistant instructors and so on. Time as assistants: 3 to 5 additional years. Black Belt Instructors have 6 or more years of active teaching. Chief Instructors 10 to 20 years. Our Master instructor has over 30 years teaching and our Grand Master has over 40 years teaching.
